King Master Model Cornet, 1939 Restored
This King Master Model cornet, often referred to as the "under slung" cornet due to its distinctive valve entry design, is an exceptional instrument that plays beautifully. It appears to have been recently overhauled and is in like-new condition. Made by the esteemed H. N. White Company, this cornet is a testament to a rich legacy of craftsmanship, with notable players including Red Allen, Herbert Clark, and Del Staigers.
The H. N. White Company, known for producing King, American Standard, Cleveland, and Gladiator brands, introduced Sterling Silver bells between 1926 and 1928. These bells are famous for their superior tonal quality—clear, rich, and highly resonant—along with their stunning visual appeal. Even today, King cornets from this era are widely played and cherished in bands across the country.
