This instrument is visually stunning and a very cool piece of history. Everything from the valve casing shape to the water keys, finger hook, and braces is very "Art deco" and interesting. This particular Conn 48b has been refinished with satin silver plate and a gold wash bell. Notice the (rimless) vocabell and the octagonal valve casing. In case you are wondering: the valves themselves are round, not octagonal. Also note that the position of the third valve slide and the tuning slide on the third valve casing are reversed from the usual/modern way.
